A basket strainer is a filtering device used in pipelines to trap and remove solid debris from liquids, such as water, oil, chemical fluids, or fuel. It features a removable mesh basket (usually stainless steel) housed within a body that fits inline with a pipeline.Unlike other types of strainers, basket strainers are designed for horizontal flow and are typically installed upstream of pumps, control valves, or flow meters to protect them from damage due to dirt, rust, scale, and other particulates.
As fluid enters the strainer, it passes through the perforated or mesh basket, which traps debris and allows clean fluid to continue downstream.
